Apparently the anti-keto 100% carb diet is the secret to heart health…what a joke! Can you imagine the insulin response these people must be producing? Also they must be hungry All. The. Time.

I think someone recently called CNN fake news

People really need to do their own research and figure things out for themselves. You can buy into a lot of things the media sells, but you just have to figure out what’s right for you. I like keto better for me for many reasons, and will stick with it. I can’t say it’s right for everyone, nor would I push it on people. People just need to pay attention to their own lives, to their own health, and figure out what is best for them.

Also, I wonder what Bob Harper would think of this piece? didn’t he have a good “diet” and exercise but have a history of heart disease? Didn’t prevent a heart attack in him.

And that’s why I don’t own a tv. I don’t want the network’s spin and feeding me what they think I should see. I’d rather do my own reading and research on line and make my own decisions.

Actually, from a medical point of view, you can lose weight and lower insulin response on a 100% carby foods diet. For example, if you eat nothing but boiled potatoes (alone, without fat, salt, condiments, meat…)…you can lower the insulin response. Potatoes have a full protein profile, which allows this to be the case.

Penn Gillette (of the Penn and Teller magician duo) did the potato diet and lost a lot of weight.

But, it is a draconian eating regime. Just boiled potatoes, and that’s it. The moment you put something else in your mouth, all bets are off, as it will restart spiking your insulin again and immediately. Before embarking on these extreme type of diets, You need to consider your background, your lifestyle, what your body has gone through, your athletic performance levels, other ailments you may have, etc. these are drastic eating measures, and should be done with very close supervision of a doctor (not a dietician, or nutritionist, or trainer…a real medical doctor…MD…not some person with a BS accreditation). You can seriously harm your health eating nothing but 100% carby foods diet.

Same dude also did a keto diet special for 60 minutes in 2012.

Television “news” should be pronounced “noise” — it is intellectual and spiritual margarine.

People watch and believe…

There was some complete crap about diet and health in the (UK) Daily Mail today as well. It’s not a paper I respect or have any time for, but I have to buy it for an elderly person, and for once, there were some items of interest to me. But in passing, I noticed this big screaming headline about some study, done by Cambridge University, which “proved” that all the things we like to eat are bad and would kill you.

There was a little table of recommendations, and among the things these geniuses were telling us to do were: Consume polyunsaturated oils like Olive Oil [sic]…

Now this could well have been an error by the Daily Mail (aka The Daily Fail, aka, The Daily Heil). I’m sure even someone from Cambridge Uni (I live near Oxford…) knows what’s in olive oil…and if they don’t, maybe they need to work in a different field altogether.

I couldn’t even be bothered to search out the original study.
The usual bollocks paid for by the usual suspects.

Forget mainstream news. Independent news is the ticket.

I either subscribe to an independent news person that I like, or follow Twitter feeds of the top people, and then cross-reference a lot before I really believe anything.
In keto the top people might include the usual suspects, 2dudes, Fung, Noakes, Naiman, Teicholz, Moore, DocMuscles, Taubes, Phinney, and about any of the speakers at the Low Carb meetings. There is some excellent and recent news coming out of these twitter feeds, especially Noakes and Naiman, IMO.

Dr. Caldwell Esselstyne works at the Cleveland Clinic. Dean Ornish has done some diet studies. They both advocate a vegan diet. Bill Clinton espoused being a vegan for a while. I quit watching at 4:50 and didn’t hear veganism mentioned once. I’m sure if you follow a vegan low or no fat diet you can reduce the risk of heart disease. I’d rather eat steak and butter and achieve the same thing.

All news; tv, radio, even newspapers. It seems to all be corrupted, drawing their information from the same “acceptable” sources. By acceptable, I’m referring to sources that support the views of their sponsors.

It’s a business, nothing more, produced for the sole reason of selling ads and/or advancing an agenda. Anyone who still thinks mainstream news programming is meant to “inform” the public is deluded.

Gossip, tragedy, fear-mongering — for reasons I will never understand, people still eat that shit up.

I totally agree. Sadly, our local tv news station boldly claims they are “fair and accurate”. I suppose that’s legal-speak for “not necessarily the truth, but accurate according to someone”. I prefer truth. Truth is much harder to find under all the ****, but at least I know it’s real.
