They're getting closer to watch-based glucose

They say they might also be able to test ketones, lactate, alcohol, and others (insulin would rock).

As always, will be in the UK first and the US (much?) later.

I would like to try this when they are selling these things. I just don’t want that “patch” deal as I can’t stand the thought of more hardware in my body, or needle/pins either. I already have to have a pacemaker, which I try not to think about. I just know I get a good heart-rate with it, no meds needed.

Thank you for this info, for my type 2, this would be good. I mean they’re still going to the Moon, traveling there right as we speak. Seems we should fix a lot of issues on this rock, hurtling through space, first  Denise PS and that’s me, non-insulin supported T2D

I think it would be cool if we had glucose and ketones via a watch with no patch or pin-pricks needed.

If they could add glucagon and, preferably, insulin, that would be amazing. it would answer so many questions I have.

It remains to be seen as to whether they will charge monthly for any data. Every company seems to want to charge monthly.

There’s money to be made, that’s for sure, if we could get their heads in the right place, instead of, well, elsewhere

Hello @ctviggen , Bob, I tried the test strips, and got nothing at all, so I am thinking of getting the GK Plus for both ketones, and glucose for my T2D.

I think I saw a post of yours where you use the Keto Mojo, and I think you would have gotten the GK??

I think my health is worth $50 for a good meter that may give me ketones, as well as my BG. I have a good one, or one I go by already, but I am still hoping to see if I can get a “number” for my GK  Feedback very welcome, and sorry if I’ve gone over this “want” before. I’m ready to order it today though, just like to check with you first, Denise:+1::thinking:

PS I’m watching more of Metabolic Minds this a.m., Bret Cher with Georgia Edie, Here, and they talk about “testing” I know I’m 8 years into keto, probably have good ketone as I eat 20 and under carbs, but still want to try the meter

I’ve used multiple different monitors. The one I’m using now is the KetoBM ketone monitor.

It’s interesting to test. I’m generally – though not always – low in the morning, 0.2-0.4 mmol/l, and my blood sugar is higher (usually – though not always – above 100). My blood sugar goes down all day, and my ketones go up.

It’s fun to see what happens, though probably not critical. And the strips for ketones are still about $1 each, so not inexpensive.

They have a continuous ketone meter (CKM), like a continuous glucose meter (CGM). At some point, I hope to wear both. The few pictures of ketones using a CKM indicate the values vary much more than I thought they would. I’d be interested to see what happens for me. And I’d like to do some testing, like eating a high protein meal and seeing what happens. I know from previous testing that blood sugar doesn’t change for me, but would ketones? And is this repeatable (meaning that every time I eat higher protein, ketones go down – if they do)?

I just did a thread on this, but Dr. Georgia Ede, with Bret Scher, really got through my thick skull this a.m. I had my macros way off Bob, but I’ve managed to keep my BG down, not sure on Ketones.

Here’s the link for this “new to me info” and I attribute my brain kicking in way better now, from doing Keto, which has really been lower carb at 20 lately, but not near enough fats, over the protein. Now myfitnesspal is set to Proteins.

I understand that it’s how these percents/grams work for my body. We’re all different, but Google’s numbers are wild, for increasing Ketones to lower Insulin:

“To increase ketones and lower insulin, adopt a ketogenic diet (KD) with approximately 70-80% fat, 10-20% protein, and 5-10% carbohydrates (typically <50g net carbs/day).”

I already know 50 grams is how I started keto, but just because I didn’t like eating carbs I got down to 10. Anyway, I am going to get a meter. Dr. Ede says checking in fasted state when I wake in a.m. as Ketones fluctuate due to a lot of other things besides foods such as stress, anxiety, etc.

It takes me awhile to realize things, but it just dawned on me I don’t need to buy anything with BG meter because I already have that! So now I’m just looking at Keto Mojo’s and there aren’t any on Amazon where I like to shop.

So I’m looking just at Ketone Meters. Just checked out the Keto Sens. I need to go back to another thread where a couple other brands were mentioned as well

I bought the KetoBM on Amazon. It’s not as physically nice as the Keto Mojo, but it does work.

If you want higher ketones, there supposedly is a relationship between fat and ketones (which means lower protein). I’ve listened to podcasts where it’s highly variable, meaning two people eating the same macros will get two different ketone levels.

I’ve never tried to raise my ketones (I can’t find any effect unless I go really high, then I get too ADHD), but I have found that if I eat a lot of fat or MCT oils, this tends to raise my morning ketones.

I’d test at night, because those are probably going to be higher. Dr. Ede says to test in the morning, but that’s always my lowest ketones and highest blood sugar. For instance, my blood sugar was near 110 this morning and now (about 4pm) is 80. My ketones tend to travel the opposite of that.

Yes I think I’ll go with the testing in the a.m. to start and then also lower protein now and higher fats I’ll try this out Bob, also I’m just going to pick out a keto senes. I can return it to Amazon if I really am not satisfied with it thanks so much for chiming in as feel I need to find what works for me but I appreciate the guidelines to kind of go by to have some idea what I’m getting into oh on the MCT I was thinking to start with a tablespoon and just put it in my coffee but I’m not remembering if it’s okay in your coffee because coffee is so hot.
