The sweeteners?! And cooking for others

A little over a month in, and things are going well. I’m having a hard time faithfully adding things to my app, so I guess I’m not 100% sure what exactly is causing my issue, but here goes. The erythritol is hurting my body!!! And almost everything “sweet” contains it as an ingredient. Everything I make from Keto recipes that has it as an ingredient causes significant stomach pain and a couple of trips to the bathroom. I can handle an occasional Zevia soda, but anything I try to bake is a major problem. Does this ever go away? Can you desensitize yourself? I’m really struggling with a sense of deprivation right now. I don’t crave sweet things very often, but I am surrounded by temptations, and every once in a while get really frustrated! I have 6 children and am an avid cook/ baker. My husband is a pastor, and I often cook for church functions— it is almost impossible to cook for other people and not taste! I have to check for seasoning, texture, etc. It’s really causing issues, especially since my most recent fat bomb recipe sent me to the bathroom for the afternoon. :expressionless:
I’m trying to stay gentle with myself, but it can be overwhelming and frustrating. ( especially since my husband —who is on the journey with me and is a huge support—is dropping weight at an enviable rate where my increments are much lower)

Ok. Whine session over. Has anyone successfully acclimated to the sugar alcohol sweeteners, and how do you handle cooking for others?

Thanks!

you might have to get your head around the idea that you will have to live without artificial or real sweeteners in your diet. many of us have completely lost our sweet tooth over time. you can do it to, its not healthy and probably counterproductive to ingest sweet (real or not) baked goods frequently. divorcing yourself from snacks and treats is difficult and challenging but may be necessary. fat bombs have derailed many a ketogenic dieter.

the odd taste of non ketogenic foods is not likely to counteract your journey, assuming that it is a tiny taste and not grazing and all the stuff around you. good luck!
