The strug is real

Definitely YES on the lethargic and hungry. Right after eating I feel really exhausted too.

If you are really active, and depending upon your body fat % you may need to up your fat intake a lot. I show you around 30g low just on my calculator, you are not out of the ballpark but I learned that I need to really start increasing the fat when my activity level went up a couple months ago. I am 7 months in, my normal macros are 2800 a day but I increase to almost 4000 when I need to for a couple days. When I do I feel much better and I have lost weight every time I do. Try to limit your protien to the first part of the day and then eat the rest of the day in fat, I use HWC a lot for this, 1 cup is 820 calories, it takes about 1 hour to hit me.

I would recommend you up your fat intake for 2 days by at least 25 % try it see how you feel, give it a day or two and do it again. That is not your overal intake by 25% but your fat, if you use ruled me’s calculator that means changing from one level activity to the next.

I know I haven’t been doing this as long as you, but my personal feeling is if your struggling with hunger on fasting, you shouldn’t be fasting. Take a step back if you need to.
Once hunger issues are resolved, you can try fasting again.

Yes @Anniegirl9 hit the nail on the head, you should not be hungry really at all anymore. Let your body tell you what it needs, its pretty smart that way.

Thank you for helping me! What is HWC?

(Doug) #13

“Heavy Weight Cream”

Thanks!

Pretty sure it’s actually Latin for milk of the gods.

(Doug) #16

Precious little argument you will get from me. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think @In2steam and @Anniegirl9 pretty well nailed it. Don’t force fasting, it will come naturally when you’re ready. Just focus on the basics, cut carbs and enjoy eating fat.

(Chris W) #18

In my neck of the woods it means heavy whipping cream

When I first started Keto, I was listening to a podcast by Lee Ann Vogel. I didn’t listen a lot (just one podcast, I think), but she had mentioned losing hair. I think she does something different. Eats more or carbs up.

I’m not sure. I’m sorry for giving half an answer. But maybe you can Google her. I think if you’re losing hair, your body is definitely trying to tell you something. I

Might help!

Leanne Vogal is a big proponent of carbing up. She is also dairy free.

Her book had three different “Keto” paths with meal plans. One classic Keto, one carb up Keto, and I can’t recall the third.

I don’t recommend her meal plans for beginners though. Or anyone who doesn’t want to spend a fortune on specialty ingredients and a whole lot of time in the kitchen.

I followed her classic Keto 4 week meal plan to start off. It gave me a good base to start Keto, but I was glad when I was done with it. Couldn’t wait to add dairy!!!

(Doug) #22

Yes, exactly - you are right, Chris. “Heavy Weight Cream” - where in the heck did I get that “weight”?

#23

IRON!! Check your iron. No amount of perfect eating can make up for it if you are low. Hair falling out and low energy are classic clues. I was going mad trying to work out what I was doing wrong and doc almost laughed when he worked it out. So simple. So important. X

I have that book! At first I really loved it, but now I have mixed feelings too. Her recipes are delicious, but fairly labor intensive and higher carb than I like.
She says with hair loss you have to eat more carbs. (I don’t want to…) She believes that most women can’t do 20g of carbs or less. But I know anecdotally that women succeed with this for many years.

(LeeAnn Brooks) #25

I got frustrated with the errors in the book. Every single week was messed up where the shopping list would call for a certain amount of meat but you would go to the corresponding recipie and it would call for as much as double what you bought. It was so frustrating.
But OMG the Cajun Pork Belly!!!
A few others I really liked too, but that one is amazing!

Fatigue and hair loss are also signs of a thyroid problem. Dry skin and brain fog too.

You could also look into adrenal fatigue. Often when your thyroid starts to go, your adrenal system will try to hold you together for a while, then it all crashes.
