Hello fellow Ketopians,

I’m really like keto related podcasts, that’s how l found out about this forum, thanks 2KD .

I came across this podcast about the power of exercise as simple as walking!

As an o see child and an obese teenager l hated sport, avoiding it as much as possible. After weight loss from keto 7 years ago l spontaneously started moving more and l discovered that l actually love some kind of sports (weigh lifting, Thai boxing).
Exercise is not needed for weight loss but makes you feel good in your body (endorphins release, etc). Also, who doesn’t want to have firmer body, right?

The podcast is really informative! The benefits of walking are astonishing!
At the beginning there is some part devoted to home schooling and avoiding of sittings (sitting is called now the new smoking l heard).
I’m dealing with some health issues related to brittle bones, impact of civilization on skeletal structure, that’s why it got my interest.

I’m curious about your thoughts

I’ve been doing a “Poolates” (Aqua Pilates) class for over 7yrs and love it! Admittedly, some mornings I have to drag myself in but I always feel better after class. It’s made a huge difference in my balance. And needless to say, my overall sense of well-being has improved too. It doesn’t matter what you do, just do something.

Exactly!
One other component of the added benefit of well being from moving your body is the group aspect of joining some classes or having your hiking/walking group.
I’m quite lonely so l appreciate it a lot, also this forum gives me the sense of belonging.

Movement is the way to, and reward for one’s health and effort.

I’ve never been into sports and took weightlifting in high school as often as they’d let me for the two years of required PE because I could just do my thing with minimal human interaction. That said I’ve always loved cycling. So maybe I’m just antisocial, not antisport.

But! Lately I’ve been playing soccer with friends every week, and sometimes basketball. I’m not good at it but significantly better than I was 20 years ago. And I’m having a lot of fun! Did you all know about this sports thing? It’s pretty cool.

Yes indeed Ruina, it is pretty cool indeed

I love walking and have as much respect for my treadmill as I do my lap top. Walking has helped heal a back injury, keeps my depression in check, loosens stiff joints and is the easiest, most natural way for me to exercise (which I hate). Walking never, ever seems like a chore.

I think of it as a body in motion stays in motion. I try to be conscious of having quality sedentary time, but not being a sedentary person.
