Hi to all

57 Year old male, needing to drop around 3 stone before Xmas? Tried all fad diets and slimming clubs, once tried Atkins and lost over a stone!
Would love tips on how to start and basic staples to have in the cupboard
I also need handy quick bites as I work on the road, love soups so I believe bone broth is a go to product?

Thanks in advance

David

Keto is not a quick weight-loss diet, despite the hype that you hear. It is for a very few but it is the exception, not the norm.

You are trying to lose 42 lbs in 17 weeks and that is nearly 2.5 #/week. If you are 100+ lbs overweight that might be reasonable but if that gets you to your goal weight then you may be disappointed. In the scale - not how you feel!

But to answer your questions bone broth is good, so are nuts and dried meats. I travel a lot for my job and eating on the road hasn’t been hard. I can always get a salad with meat, or take the bun off a burger (or order it bunless - restaurants and fast food is catching on!) or substitute veggies for potatoes and ask for extra butter since they still think healthy veggies are steamed, tasteless things.

I also like avocados, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts, green olives, and cheese snacks (string cheese, Tillamoos, Babybel), and sliced pepperoni; which are all really portable and don’t always need refrigeration (depending on the length of your travels). I have to watch the amounts of nuts I eat carefully, those “incidental carbs” can really add up fast.

Some fairly Keto friendly “protein” bars which I like are the Stabilyze brand. You can get these online or they have them at my local Costco’s. They are a little higher fat and slightly lower protein (usually about 6 or 7 grams of net carbs, depending on the flavor).

Good luck! Let us know how you do.
