The Big Fat Truth

(Shromona Das) #1

So I am back on the keto track after a while. My body, having been in and out of ketosis in the last one year, has been pretty accustomed to the process. Ideally, I should feel great.
But A. I’m still recovering from Candida
B. I’m experiencing severe digestive issues
C. I’m facing a moral dilemma about fats (butter, VCO, fatty meat)
Some say that doing a moderate fat keto is good for the long run (I want the long run)
Some say butter is great for keto. Should I be worried that most of my calories come from fat? Should I concentrate more on the protein goal?

I think it has to be a personal thing.

Personally, I found that my body is naturally directing me towards fats, as a consequence my meals are a lot smaller but far more satiating. It’s saving me money on groceries too.

No, you should not be worried. If you’re here doing Keto, you know LF doesn’t work.
Read up on Ancel Keys and how the whole LFHC SAD Diet originated and how studies have proven everything he believed wrong. In a nut shell, we were duped by bad science and a single guy who had an agenda. Fats are not bad for us. Cholesterol is not correlated to heart disease. In fact, studies are now showing that too little cholesterol is more indicative of heart issues.

Too much protein turns to fat, so moderate protein only. Between .8 and 1.25 grams protein per pound of lean body weight. Only push the upper limit if you are extremely active.

Don’t fret it - Fats dont have feelings…:joy:

Don’t listen to them that say that - what is good for the long run? HIGH fat keto

Those are the voices you want to listen to :+1: No, you should not worry that most of your calories come from fat. Yes, indeed, the goal is that ALL your daily energy comes from fat - whether it be ingested fat, or stored body fat. Do not worry about the protein goal. If you eat real food, (ie not eating two sticks of butter and drinking oil straight from the bottle), the fat that you consume will have sufficient protein that comes along for the ride.

Your calories from fat should be at least equal to the calories from protein and carbs combined. The exact ratio depends on the person. Some do best with them being equal but most people need calories from fat to be at least double your protein and carbs combined. A lot of doctors that encourage keto say it needs to be calories from fat need to be 4 times calories from carbs and protein combined. So don’t worry that fat is more than half your calories. It should be more than half.

This is such a relief! Such a relief! Yeaaa, I’m doing keto right. I should not be worried that I’m having 72% of fat in my meal. It actually helps me with the OMAD plan as I don’t go crazy over not eating for 20 hours. I eat one large meal, and maybe a bulletproof coffee 3-4 hours later. All my meals begin and end within a two go four hours gap. I hope that’s OK.
