Thanksgiving crash and rebuild

(JOE FABEETS) #1

Been doing keto for 3 months but went all out for thanksgiving last night. While I was only able to have seconds of the mashed potatoes instead of my normal thirds of everything I did eat more carbs in one night than I have in the last 3 months put together. After a nap I felt terrible. Soooooo gross from all that food. I thought I had surely gained ten lbs and would take a week to recover. However this morning I had only gained 3lbs and after my bullet proof coffee and walking around a bit I’m starting to get that keto feeling already? Any one else have a crash and rebuild yet?

I did pretty good - only thing I was really wanting was a turkey bowl. Mashed potatoes, stuffing, turkey and gravy in a big pile. So I took a small plate and put a few bites of each, covered with just enough gravy to cover and dug in. It was enough to get the craving satisfied, but not enough to cause much damage. Lol…

Fasting today and tomorrow. It was worth it and no regrets.

KCKO!

I have had about 1 day a month where I eat a little too many carbs on a date night or whatever but this was the biggest stray I’ve had but was really just wanted to see what would happen. No regrets here either.

TDay festivities started Wed evening while starting preparations. I’m the stuffing cook and while I’m “usually” keto I wasn’t even close for that evening or at all on Tday.

It’s almost 1PM here the day after the “big binge” and I haven’t had anything but black coffee and I feel great. This is how I have managed those periodic binges away from keto. Get Right Back on the Wagon! (GRBOTW)

I, too, indulged and initially was so upset with myself that I was near tears (such a fruit). But…my blood sugar came back down to normal so much more quickly than it did prior to keto that I felt so happy and appreciative of the ability to go off the rails for a day and know that I can get right back to keto afterwards.
I’ve already scheduled a fast for this coming week!
