Thanksgiving 10 have decided to stay for a while

#1

So given the trips to Europe just before and after a “what the heck” Thanksgiving, the added 10 lbs seem to want to stick around for the holidays. OK, maybe more like 6-8 most days but I have found that I am very casual with my ketoism and give in all too frequently to the abundant Holiday Carbmas Cheer.

I am still below my original target weight and just can’t seem to muster up the desire to get strict. Guessing it won’t improve over the next few weeks but then I am back at it. I hope.

I still have a commitment that if I actually hit my original goal weigh (from below going up) that I immediately restart tracking everything in cronometer. Only happened one day and in a few days I was making promise. And then that trip to Zurich. Yikes,

ANybody else losing motivation to stick to it once you seem to have had great success? It is obvious that I need the WOE and not a diet.

That’s my big issue, I think. I get a rush from the excitement of rapid change and tracking the pounds coming off. Noticing the NSVs is also very motivating.

But I have definitely lost momentum and motivation a couple of times in the past when I reached a stable weight. I think I’ve gotten accustomed to my new body size and take it for granted. I need to figure out strategies to keep things interesting during the long-term maintenance phase.

Yes, lost too much weight and went low carb. Was happy to gain water weight. I looked and felt better, then re read the research re alzheimers and motor neuron disease, got scared and jumped back on the keto wagon. BG dropped from 95 to 85.

…, and cancer.

I reached my goal weight recently but felt worse than when I was 5kg heavier. What I didn’t realise was my goal was unrealistic and I should have been focusing more on body fat percentage and lean body mass. Our goals change with time.

Good to hear from you @ava_ad0re, you’ve been missed.

You’re too sweet @Regina

watch yourself and don’t fall into a ton of excuses that seem so real and legitimate that you lose all your ‘smarts on why you changed’ and ‘why you are doing what you are doing in the food dept of your life’

We all know it starts with one excuse. That ‘I will get back on plan’ later. The ‘I feel great so…I can eat…’ then it all goes backward.

just saying we all must truly realize our WOE got us where we are at. We leave it, we will eventually lose all the benefits of it. And if it doesn’t happen fast, it will be that slow carb icky food that drags you backward.

All I am saying is be aware. Aware of what is truly happening the food dept at all times. We kinda all gotta do this

Well put. I se the temptations all around this time of year. Just last year I would have been stuffing myself with Chex Mix, cookies, cakes, pies… The problem is just doing “better” on the SAD doesn’t do me any good. I have to stick largely to keto and then I can veer off on occasion (Thanksgiving… trip to Portugal… Michelin * restaurant)… but that can only happen when I am better focused than I have been lately.

Sigh

Not across the board. I went low carb for two months and then rejoined keto. I’m doing fine. It’s called metabolic flexibility.

those with carb addictions slide backward every easily but I sure get that some can eat up the junk and return to plan. A lot of us have a lot more trouble and it will never be easy and simple. that is all I was saying but I know some can.

I totally understand that. I’ve watched my neighbor eat an entire bag of cookies. I am just among the lucky because I dont eat a lot and dont have binging tendencies. (Ok, well maybe with milk. I can down three glasses pretty fast,) but I am happy to be back to keto.

With all the goodies at my house now I think the Thanksgiving 10 are here through the NEw Year. As long as I can keep it at 10 I am good.

Well, I failed to keep it at ten with another trip and Christmas. More like 15. But strict keto for only 12 days and they are all gone. But now I am back in London where it all started.
