I have been off and on Atkins and Keto for most of my life (read Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution when I was an early teen I’m 36 now).
I learned early on that being in Ketosis makes me look, feel, and act REALLY good! Unfrotunately 20 years ago, there was no support and ketogenesis was persecuted by everyone. This made it very difficult to stay keto for longer than 6 months at a time and I yoyo dieted for 19 years. I used keto as a way of lossing weight then back to old way of eating.
Last year around this time I got up to 270 pounds, had terrible knee pain, my foot arche felt like it was tearing/breaking in half, acid reflux every night, headaches almost every day, not to mention constantly being tired and out of breath. I decided to go Keto, because it always works and is the only thing that works for me.
My job is very stressful and physically demanding. I knew that if I kept my weight on, I was on a path to an early grave and extra large coffin. With 2 young daughters I knew it was time to make a real lifestyle change so I went Keto.
Headaches and acid reflux went away almost immediately, knee pain was gone with just a few pounds of weight loss and ketos anti inflammatory properties, foot pain slowly disappeared as my weight fell below 250 and my body repaired itself, now 1 year later, I’m down to 215(ish) and feel like a new man!
This long post is to say I vowed to make Keto my life long lifestyle, I have stumbled this last year and binged but thankfully Keto is exploding, the support from people like 2 keto dudes and other podcasts has kept me going when I felt like giving up and picked me back up when I fell off the wagon! The success stories, the long term health and beauty benefits, the research, and the lives saved by this way of eating keeps me motivated and confident that I am on the best path for long term success. I want to contribute to others success and motivation and this is the best way I know how. I am thankful to all of you and I know that if we follow the principles of fat adaptation, and support each other in this carbage battle for our wallets, and complete disregard to our health, that we will be successful.
