Testing Sugar Alcohols

I wanted to finally get around to testing sugar alcohols as well as the affect of carbs on my exercise, so I got some more glucose strips and set off with my favorite that I know I shouldn’t have but is in a lot of great stuff: Maltitol.
I apparently started with a tough one though as I don’t have any raw, can you even get it raw? So my BG was 86 before testing and 30 minutes after eating 120 grams of candy containing ~60 grams of Maltitol my BG is up to 97. The question then becomes how much of that was the sugar alcohol and how much was the other ~50% of the food. Unless somebody has a better idea I am just going to test with a control of some kind, coconut oil perhaps to keep it simple.

I never really could find a good testing protocol, so if you have one please share. Next up will be Swerve. Stevia is easy, no test needed, that stuff is nasty to me.
