Test strips

How important are keto test strips.
Though l’m doing well they can be discouraging.

Bin them.
That’s how important they are.

Judge by how you feel and how your clothes fit.

When I first started keto, the test strips worked for maybe a few months, but once I became fat adapted, they never detected anything. They also have a limited shelf life like mentioned on your other thread. I have a feeling the test strips are way more useful for people are aren’t keto and need to monitor for ketoacidosis because those people aren’t fat adapted and they are not utilizing their ketones.

I know I went into ketosis once I became colder and became less hungry. Now I can sleep under a couple of light blankets in summertime. I also can go out in 90-degree weather and not sweat really. I’ve never tested my ketones.

On the 1-10, they’re somewhere between a 0, and a 0.

 Math always cracks me up.

I think they’re a bit of fun when you first start chasing ketosis. Like people who jump on the scales, it’s nice to see ketones being produced, especially if you’re not sure you’re under your carb count. And it’s encouraging to see the pink, even if means you’re peeing them out and not fat adapted.

Beyond the initial stages though I think they’re not worth it.

If you haven’t got the message already, don’t waste your money.

Go buy a nice steak instead.
