Tell me why I shouldn’t go statin

#1

18mos on Keto. Love everything about it except my bloodwork. Why shouldn’t I continue keto and take a low dose statin? Seems like a win-win.

Search Dave Feldman on this site, I’ve seen links to his articles somewhere here. I’m still learning myself, so afraid to even try and explain. He was also on the podcast, so you can here him there too.

Because statins aren’t good for you and keto is. Seems more like a lose-win conflict to me. You don’t need to lower cholesterol to lower heart disease risk.

You need to quit sugar and carbs as best as you can to reduce inflammation, and stop cholesterol from coating your arteries to try to fix that inflammation, which leads to heart disease.

It a well debunked lie that they’re helpful. They are profitable so the industry that believes that LFHC diet is healthy will continuously be able to push their profit driven recommendations on the unwitting public. They’re harmful to your liver. Note that the name of that organ is significant.

Can you post your blood work?

While there’s solid evidence that we’re too glib about statin consumption, I’m not a doctor. You should understand the criticisms against statins, but find and work with a doctor that isn’t reflexively anti-low-carb and work with her instead.

At least, that’s what I would do. I do wish you the best of health!

Thank you. So hard to find doctors that don’t look at me like I’m crazy. I’ve talked to this endocrinologist at length about keto and my goals. The bloodwork came back with a note…”Watch your diet and lower fat intake”

Statins destroy your cells’ ability to make their own vital cholesterol (inside themselves) and causes them to die full of the components without being able to use them. Imagine each cell screaming in pain as if bulges full of chemicals that it vitally needs but can’t process. Like an obese person starving to death…

It reached into the blood to suck up any cholesterol it can just to avoid dying. Imagine the same obese starving person gobbling up everything in sight and still screaming in pain and on the verge of death.

The result is less statins in the blood … and the doctor, full of hubris and ignorance, says that great. Then the complications with cell death … literally and all over. The body goes into critical emergency trying to keep you alive. It fights this horrible destruction like a beast trying to hold back the dam of catastrophe from breaking. And you just keep killing more cells… for no good reason.

I’m not a doctor, but when I saw this… I was totally disgusted. I thought Ancel and his legacy were murderers… but maybe ignorant. The statin developers knew this and did it anyway.

Sometimes muscle soreness is because of severe injury and requires surgery. The next time you are sore from a workout, you should definitely have surgery

What ever you choose make sure you have done your research. The Great Chloresterol Myth is a really good book. You can probably find it at your library. I have it from Audio books.
Diet Doctor. Com also has good articles and movies that can explain the science.
I wouldn’t touch the stuff. Especially women or anyone with no previous heart attack.

Because they lower LDL, and lower LDL means higher All Cause Mortality. Simples.

#13

Yep, and how they lower LDL is truly terrifying.
Check out Karim’s links above. Really, they knew these drugs were toxic and got them approved anyway.

In the end, this is an important item to research AND work with your doctor on family history. As Dr. Bret Scher, the low carb cardiologist , often mentions in his podcasts, there are some people that he DOES recommend statins.

Please work with someone who can navigate this with you. https://lowcarbcardiologist.com/

If you genes aren’t effected by statins, then it is probably ok to do them. HMGCR rs 17238540 and COQ2 rs4693596 can be very effected, causing serious problems with taking them. My husband had very serious issues with statins. He has the wrong alleles, mine are ok. if I ever felt I needed statins I would probably be ok taking them. But my husband, he wouldn’t be able to get out of bed, muscles are so effected by them.

Often the first few tests show high LDLs, but after a while, can be months or even a few years in others, the LDL does go back down when eating keto. If you are really concerned get a calcium scan done (CAC). If that score is normal, no worries about LDL numbers.

And as others have suggested read Dave’s website for even more science about this.
