T2D And Genetics

(Jim) #1

Just got this update from 23andME:

“Jim, your genetics are associated with an increased likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes.
Based on data from 23andMe research participants, people of European descent with genetics like yours have an estimated 16% chance of developing type 2 diabetes at some point between the ages of 66 (your current age) and 80.

TYPICAL RANGE 16%
0%100%
Your genetic likelihood is higher than typical. But your overall likelihood also depends on factors like weight, diet, and exercise. This means it’s important to maintain a healthy lifestyle.”

I sort of already knew this as T1D and T2D is rampant in my family.
I guess I better stay Keto to beat the genetic odds.

I took my wife’s and my own 23andMe data to Rhonda Patrick’s site FindYourFitness and “donated” the $10 to get an extensive report and was happy with the level of detail & depth in excess of the 23andMe reports.

That’s the spirit! Keep calm and keto on! :+1:

I’m no longer pre-diabetic, and diabetes runs in both sides of my family, as well. So not only have I regained my metabolic health, I did it by eating all I wanted of foods I love. :bacon::bacon::bacon:
