— Automatically removed quote of whole previous post.
I get this system message occasionally and I have no idea why or how to avoid it. Any idea if it’s just a bug or something I do that triggers it? Even when I go back to edit and try to put the quote in there again, my edit is ignored and the post remains the same.
My guess is you selected the whole post for quoting while responding. I, for example, removed the “e.” from my selection, which I did to see what happens.
The big brother software will do that - sometimes, as it’s pretty buggy - if you quote ALL of the post you’re replying to. Started a couple of weeks ago.
You can defeat it by make a little change to the text (which is LUDICROUS), or by inserting [s][/s] into the body of the text you’re quoting (as I did here). And yes, I’ve got a keyboard macro setup to type that so I don’t have to bother.
I often can’t quote without rebooting safari on my iPhone. It just won’t bring up the “quote” button when I highlight especially if I have already made a quote since rebooting. Definitely a PITA as @juice says.
