Switching it up!

The recent podcast with Megan Ramos really resonated with me. In an attempt to “switch it up,” yet not slow my metabolism through caloric restriction and/or fasting, I am going to implement the following:

Based on a Basal Metabolic Rate of approx 1400 calories a day, or between 9800-10,000 calories per week, I will randomly select one of each, ensuring that each week consists of a different order of the following:

a. 1 meal a day = 1250 calories
b. 2 meals a day= 2500 calories
c. 3 meals a day= 3750 calories
d. Fast day
e. Fast day
f. Fast day
g. 2 meals a day = 2500 calories

During a week when I have a social obligation, I’ll just swap one of the other days, which should provide adequate flexibility. I’m sure there’s an app somewhere that could generate all the necessary letter combinations from a to g!!
Any ideas on how I could improve on this method or potential problems I should consider?

You can find apps for Android and iOS for Dice rolling. I have one called DnDice, which I found by searching “polyhedral dice” in the app store. Nice thing is you can customize the Dice to the exact number of options you need.

Edit: we need a “Keto 8 Ball” to use for such things!

Very interesting. Are you running this as an experiment?

You could say that…I’ve been an extremely slow loser (sometimes only a pound or less a month). I’m also a creature of habit, so I’m hoping this will shake things up a bit for me personally. I’m also intending on doing a longer fast (3-5 days once a month or so).

Good luck. It will be great hearing how you get on.

Interesting, I’m gonna follow this thread - good luck with the roll of the dice.

I switch it up all the time. It works.

Just play around with it, and monitor the results.

Maybe add/shift a few calories for the fast days for HWC in coffee, etc.? Zero might be tough especially if you end up with 2 or 3 fast days in a row.

Fantastic suggestion! I never even thought of that!

Agreed.

Sounds interesting. Good luck!

My iPhone Calculator app has a ‘Rand’ button but you have to turn your phone sideways. It returns a number between 9 and 1 (decimals.) Simply multiple it by your number of choices and round up!

If you have 7 choices then press ‘Rand’ then X 7 = and round up to get a number from 1 to 7.

A bit geeky but then I don’t have to buy an app!

I’d love to hear how this experiment went.
