Sweet desire after meal

#1

A lot of times after eating a meal I’ll have a fairly intense craving for something sweet. It’s usually after breakfast (eggs, sausage or burger and cheese). I’ll also get it after dinner at night but a bit less so.

It doesn’t take much to “handle it”. A square or two of extra dark chocolate does the trick. It goes away after than and there’s no desire to eat any more. If it hits at lunch sometimes I’ll have a chocolate protein drink (2g of sugar, 30g protein).

At night, if I ignore it by morning it’s gone. If it’s breakfast the desire will hang with me until lunch.

It’s nothing new to me, I’ve been experiencing this my whole life.

Anyone else have this?

Any thoughts on what causes it?

My guess would be psychological conditioning after a lifetime of expecting a dessert after food. I have the same and deal with it the same way - a small amount of dark chocolate.

It could be a more physiological carb addiction but it seems very mild to be that kind of thing - raging cravings would be more likely in that case.

I was never a sweets person but I have noticed I am getting craving for sweet things. I think it’s the idea that I am not allowed to eat it anymore.

I have made some chocolate mousse.Last night I finally found some no sugar added powdered peanut butter (made by Jif of all people) and made chocolate peanut butter mousse. It was great.

You can find stuff online but I wanted to try some before I commited 20 bucks to a giant tub. I found the Jif on the peanut butter isle for about 4 bucks at Kroger. Kroger also have an organic/“health food” section but they all cost more and all had added sugar.
