Supremo chihuahua cheese

Hello everyone, I’m new here and have lost 90 pounds since April with Keto/Low Carb. I have a question the Supremo Chihuahua Cheese says on the bag that it is 0 carbs. BUT, its says potato starch in the ingredients. I’m happy and all that this cheese is 0 carbs, but is it ? Anyone else having issues with this?

Is this product sold in the U.S.? If so, the maker is allowed to say 0 g/serving if there is less than 0.5 g/serving. The manufacturer is allowed to adjust the serving size to make the numbers come out right.

In such a case, I always assume that the carb count is 0.49999999999 g/serving, and then I multiply by the number of servings I’m actually going to eat. So if the “serving” is half an ounce, and I’m going to eat 8 ounces, then I figure I’d be getting 16 × 0.49999999999 = 7.999999999984 g of carbohydrate per real serving.

This is also why I have learned to check the list of ingredients, as well as the nutrition panel.

First, welcome. Second, congrats on your progress!
Re: this cheese… When in doubt, I always round up.

Potato starch is added to grated (shredded) cheese to stop the pieces sticking together. It’s never caused me any issues on the rare occasion I’ve used it, but it was a big part of why I favoured block cheese that I could prep myself as needed, when I was still eating cheese.

I use pre-grated when I am lazy. Not enough carbs to worry about (for me).

The downside is if it molds you generally throw out the rest of it. With block cheese you can cut the mold off and keep using it.

Ok thanx. I’m down to eating once a day anymore, I’m so fat adapted that I can’t do any more than that. So tonight, with the cheese and egg crust I made for the pizza it came down to 3 carbs per slice. So today I’m at about 15 carbs for the day.

Oh you folks can eat cheese with starch? I am sensitive to starch flavor and it’s not a tasty thing! Ew.

Well if it has starch, it’s obviously not 0.0g for 100g… Our labels (I am an European) are superior, my cheese has data like “0.2g per 100g”, WAY more informative. That rounding up to whole grabs for teeny-wheeny portions is a nasty thing to do. If it says 0, you can use 1 to be very safe.

It is a very tiny amount, really not noticeable.

This. Barring extreme sensitivity to it, I think it’s rarely a problem.
