Supportive and Non Judgemental

#1

Can I ask and remind us all for the reason we all love this site. We are all different and we all have different questions /queries. Please don’t assume anything. Please be supportive to your fellow keto friends. Thank you. Wishing everyone success in 2019, whatever that means for you

Now there’s a place for folks to talk about things. Thanks for starting this.

I joined this fabulous forum in January 2018 because I found it to be supportive and non judgemental, unlike other sites. However I am concerned about a number of posts recently. Don’t get me wrong, we are all entitled to our own views and I fully support this. I just want to encourage new users and those who are struggling or ask simple questions to get answers to their questions without assumptions. Those who want an answer to a question without others guessing their reason for asking that question. I am currently really disheartened and yet the KETO WOE has been my life saving discovery. Thank you for your response @PetaMarie, I really appreciate it. I hope this topic just reminds us all to stop and think before we reply to our KETO friends. Best wishes and thanks to you

Hi @buffy - you have to put the @ sign in front of @PetaMarie or the notification magic does not happen (directly in front without a space) - he said supportively.

I think part of this issue with newbies is getting too advanced too quickly.

Another part is allowing your jokes and sarcasm - that works fine with members that know you - to come out on someone’s first finger-shaking-while-they-type post (especially if it can be taken wrong).

If they are only looking for support with basic questions - support and answer. But, being supportive of a bad idea (100 day fast or something) is not good so, for newbies, a clear explanation - as simple as possible is best - in as a non-judgmental tone as possible.

Also, for newbies, if there are 10 or less replies so far, read through them and like one if it is just about what you were going to write - helping the newbie focus. Once we get too many replies - we start to tumble into repetition as the post keeps showing up on the recently updated board (i.e. more members see it, don’t read the many many previous duplicate posts so far, feel confident they can help and add another duplicate).

Good post buffy. The majority of people who find this forum need help and a little compassion can make a big difference.

@RobC thanks for reminder on the @ technique. I had forgotten how and was racking my brain as to how to do this.
