Supplement advice

(Polly ) #1

Hello everyone,
I recently joined a gym and had a body scan done there. The recommendation was that I start taking acetyl l-carnitine and fat-burning thermogenic supplements. I am a 60 year old woman and I am obese but have been following the Keto diet for 3 years but have fallen off the wagon for a spell and I gained quite a bit of weight.
Are these good supplements for a woman my age looking to lose fat? I will be much more diligent with my keto lifestyle and my workouts. That’s the plan.
Thanks!
Polly

Those two can absolutely help, but most can burn more on keto than others eating like crap can while taking those. You definitely don’t (need) them. A lot of people also don’t like how they feel on thermogenics, I do… but I’m a weirdo.

If it were me, I’d use it as inspiration to get back to excellent keto, with some excellent fasting when you feel the adaptation ramp up. This will probably have a bigger effect than supplements.
Remember, Carb Creep is REAL! You can do it!

You fell off the Keto wagon. You know the answer. Supplement with additional will power. But I have not found a pill for this. Although bacon helps.

Carb creep IS real, for sure. I am very susceptible to the effects of carbs too so I have to be super careful. Yes, the plan is to be way better about keto than I have been this summer. I am starting to track everything on Chronometer and am so surprised by how the carbs creep up in the slightest things !! Thank you for your support!
