Iāll never eat even the tiniest amount of anything containing it.

I donāt eat stuff like that so I never think to subtract them.
Maltitol is not safe like other sugar alcohols. It messes with insulin / blood glucose worse than regular sugar, not to mention the way it rips your intestines to pieces⦠honestly, it is not worth it.

When I first tried Atkins, many years ago, I tried these small āchocolateā bars sweetened with maltitol. I ate one and thought it was great. So, I ate another⦠and anotherā¦and anotherā¦Then I ended up in the bathroom for multiple days. That was my last experience with maltitol.
But I learned two lessons: (1) maltitol is bad for me; (2) eating sweet things is bad for me. I have the willpower to fast 4.5-5.5 days, but I donāt have the willpower to eat one tiny chocolate bar if I have more than one. So, Iāve chosen to not eat sweet things, except in rare circumstances. (And I donāt consider 85% chocolate sweetā¦Itās all I can do to choke down a few squares of it.)
Save yourself some mental (and physical) anguish and eat the real thing as (scheduled) treats. Make sure to have others over, so you have no leftovers. Be done with it.
Yeahā¦sugar alcohols tear me up too. Erythritol to a lesser extent, but it still raises my BG. Ive been avoiding them lately, not easy, but doable.
