Sugar and Substitutes Experiment (Part 1)

(Cancer Fighting Ketovore :)) #1

Fun experiment with the kids last night:

So, as a fun experiment, I decided to test sugar and sugar substitutes in water. After letting them dissolve we tested the water with the ReliOn Prime glucose meter from Wal-mart. I know this isn’t representative of how these items react in our blood, but it was still fun. I do plan on adding to this later (we ran out of test strips).

Look I dont advocate intake of artificial sweeteners, But tbh I Intake liquid stevia, saccharin, and aspartame on the daily.

This study wasn’t controlled since dextrose and maltodextrin are some of the most insulingenic sugars out there, in this case the sugar substitutes in powder contained…

Equal (dextrose w/ maltodextrin, aspartame, acesulfame potassium)
Splenda (dextrose, maltodextrin, sucralose)
Pure Via (dextrose, Reb A)

you should conduct this again with liquid forms of these.
Thanks for the study though, for science!

I plan to conduct it again, but probably not with liquid forms. It was just something fun to do with my 8 year old.

I let her domain expire in the year after she passed. But I have restored it.
