Strawberries

I’m still having a tough time keeping it pure keto. I’m not being the child in the candy store. But I’m not being able to hit the 20 gm net carb goal either. I’m wavering between 20-30 gms of net carb. I need to return to keto. I’ve been doing HIIT and feeling great. but foodwise, two major questions:
I don’t get blackberries/strawberries/avocadoes here. Would no added sugar all natural strawberry pulp and berry pulp do? (please say yes. they are sooooo expensive because I have to place order at the grocery store and they’d bring it from the city. and yes, of course I did place order already.)
Some one mentioned palm shortening. How’s that?
Should I count veggies within my 20 gms net carb mark?

@Bibi if there is no sugar added i think the pulp would be fine. Being more concentrated than fruit i would use half the amount listed in a recipe.

Whether or not to count all of your veggies carbs would depend on if you are using total carbs or net carbs. If net carbs subtract the total carbs from fiber.

Thanks so much. How many strawberries would you say are permitted? I’m asking stupid questions because let’s face it- I’ve had whole strawberries maybe ten times in my twenty three year old life. I’ve noo idea.

I do 20 net carb. I saw Dr Berg’s video and he suggested 8-10 cups of salad, which for me, is a dinosaur meal. I eat less anyway because I’ve never been a big eater. So I don’t track my veggies. But I guess I should . I’m thinking of doing a cut.

@Bibi fresh strawberries have 11g carbs and 3g fiber per 1 cup (144g). It would depend on how many carbs you want to “spend” on the berries. No stupid questions this is a learning experience. I grow strawberries in our garden so it is interesting to me that you have so little experience with them. It makes me more aware of other people’s lives. Thank you.

Yes, it’s rather tough doing keto living in an Indian village. There’s an amazing YouTube channel called headbanger’s kitchen, but Sahil (the host) lives in Mumbai- it’s a big cosmopolitan city. So he gets fresh strawberries, beef, pork, lard, almond milk, bacon, etc. I don’t get anything at all. No avocados. No pork ribs. I only eat (relish) those when I go to the city. I remember a friend in this forum said that there are villages and there are villages- mine is the last one, at the back of beyond. Only animal fat or fatty meat that I get here is mutton, that too not regularly. I depend a lot on oily fish and chicken skin. So nowadays it’s a bowl (huge) of salad, some Himalayan salt and garlic dressing and fish, eggs and chicken. That’s limited and frustrating and I crave something sweetish at the end of the meal so I depend heavily on the whey protein powder I buy from Amazon. Hence was asking about strawberries.
