Strange Episode

(J) #1

Last night had a steak dinner out. Asparagus. Salad. Nothing out of the usual. On the way home, started felling very garbagy. Very fatigued. A little dizzy. Felt like I had fever, but my temperature was normal. Tossed & turned most of the night. Woke up with a headache. Feeling way better today, but have some lingering tiredness.

Any ideas?

If I felt like that, I’d check out two possibilities: (1) did I not get enough salt the day before? (2) did I get more carbohydrate at the restaurant than I realised?

Sometimes restaurants do odd things, such as putting lots of sugar in the salad dressing. Or in the sauce on the steak. What was in the fried mushrooms? Too many of those tempting onion rings? You get the idea.

I learned from these forums never to order scrambled eggs at IHOP, because they load them up with pancake batter. Who knew?

If you can figure it out, great. If you can’t, just write it off as a blip on the radar, and keto on.

The only odd man out was asparagus. At this restaurant I usually get the green beans. That said, as far as I could tell, I don’t think there was anything off about the asparagus. The strip was zero carb. As for salad dressing, it was just olive oil & vinegar. Maybe I didn’t get the salt intake I needed. I didn’t realize a lack of salt would be able to hit so hard, though.

Don’t know what to tell you. Perhaps the asparagus was off, or perhaps you have a sensitivity to something? Have asparagus again, and see what happens. Feel rotten for science!

I had mystery weirdo times I never could explain. Sometimes it can be just some type of food poisoning I attribute it to, something bad ya ate.

any gut issues materialize?

Some unmentionable passes this morning, yes.

I can’t tolerate asparagus, or anything else containing inulin. Makes me feel horrendous.

I agree with @PaulL it could be not enough salt, especially with the fatigue and dizziness.

Another possibility is the steak was on the old side and had too much histamine.
