So been on keto 3 months, lost 23 pounds so far. Yesterday at work my boss brought cupcakes (the good kind) I resisted for a bit but I finally talked myself into having one since I haven’t had a cheat meal or anything super non keto in pretty much the whole 3 months. I risked it all. I had the cupcake. A few hours later man did my head hurt so bad. I got home from work probably 3-4 hours after cupcake eating and checked my ketone moniter and Ronny surprise it said 2.1 WOW still in ketosis and still my head hurt lol. This morning I wake up- I literally feel hung over my head hurts and my body has a little bit of the shakes. I checked my ketone levels again just for giggles and it said 1.7 . I’m happy that I’m still in ketosis but today will be a struggle at work coming down from this sugar high

Someone from my office brought in these delicious looking fruit bars and soft chocolate chip cookies from a weekend party. I’ve been eyeing them over all week but haven’t taken the bait. I actually like the fact that I’m being tempted but won’t crack. I need to be able to walk away and not think of junk food. It’s good practice.

My strategery is to have my own butter in the company fridge so I can make a quick bulletproof coffee, which helps me feel not hungry and gets rid of any cravings.

Good luck.

“This is really my only slip up and man I feel like poop now the next time I see a cupcake I’m going to be like eww gross haha“

Think of it as aversion therapy. Like making someone smoke non-stop for hours and hours until just the sight of a cig makes them nauseous.

There you go… now you know. That’s what it takes sometimes and you’ll be fine. You get back to doing Keto and all is well.

I have a co worker that every day eats like McDonald’s or some sort of trash for breakfast and throughout the day and it’s all I can smell!!! - at first I loved the smell and wanted it and it was hard to sit here eating my almonds , cheese and avacado but now months later it literally makes me nauseous to smell the food

I did the same thing about a month ago. We had a going away party for a coworker and I ate a cupcake. I had a headache for several days after and felt horrible. Needless to say, I will not be enjoying any more cupcakes that I don’t make myself out of keto friendly components…

I didn’t get the hung over type feelings when I had a major cheat, but I was knocked out of ketosis and I had major sugar/carb cravings after for over a week. I started drinking Diet Coke again to satisfy the cravings without totally going off Keto, but that just increased my hunger and kept me out of ketosis. It’s been two weeks, and while I stopped drinking Diet Coke last week, I’m just starting to be able to do IF again due to the hunger.
It totally wasn’t worth it.

I’ve wondered about falling off the wagon with pure sugar VS wheat. For my birthday last week I had 2 heavy carb IPA beers and two large slices of pepperoni pizza. My first slip in almost 3 months. When I tested the next morning, I was at 1.0 for ketones. I never had a single craving or felt bad. It’s as if it didn’t affect me at all as far ketosis goes. I didn’t have any weight gain either. Interesting to me.

It’s interesting to see the immediate bad effects of straying… makes me wonder how we all weren’t always having headaches and feeling absolutely horrible each minute of every day before keto eating. I mean, I daily had something sweet, whether it was bread, or candy. smdh I guess the body goes to great lengths to compensate…

I thought this was super risky for me to have the cupcake and it said like 25 carbs and I still ate it. So idk how I didn’t get kicked out of ketosis honestly
But I’m not complaining . I just don’t want to test the limits too much

Headache is now gone thankfully but yeah it’s super weird how I see people eat junk all the time and they feel okay and now that Iv been on a healthier lifestyle if I have junk it makes me sick.
