Stop the clock! there's a bacon crisis!

America’s inventory of frozen pork belly—which food manufacturers use to make bacon—is at its lowest point in 50 years, according to a recent USDA report. This, combined with news from the Ohio Pork Council that demand is outpacing supply, sent the Internet into a frenzy: Is there a bacon shortage on the horizon?

how will we continue!?
what is the meaning of life without bacon in it?

I feel like we’ve heard this scare story every year for the last several years now, or maybe it’s just every other year for a while. It never turns out to be meaningful in any way that I’ve ever seen. MSN isn’t exactly the best news source to begin with either, and just look at the flaws about health in that article!

That said, we’d be fine without bacon. It’s not a perfect food or anything, it’s just fine and tasty, and I think we like to emphasize it in keto circles mostly because it’s a widely loved food that also is widely thought of as terribly unhealthy by those outside of keto, so it’s a fun taboo turnaround.

I love the way they suggest cooking it in the microwave in paper towel to absorb the grease, that’s the best part, what a waste…

Ahem. Fear not, ketonians.
