Today I work up and better.I forgot to tell you guys the positive changes in my first week.I was just focused of weigh loss amd my keto flu that I didn’t pay attention to my real victories. No back pain!!! I have had chronic back pain since I was 10.I was diagnosed with Childhood arthritis. All week I haven’t had any back pain at work.Yay! No craving what so ever. You have no idea what a victory this is.I have struggled with binge eating and emotional eating for the last few years which lead to weight gain and depression and increased back pain.So despite the scale(I lost 2 lbs) I am experiencing so many wonderful benefits to the keto lifestyle.I know this is was what good for me.
Here’s what I eat yesterday
Coffee
Grilled chicken breast salad with egg
Cheese
Rotisserie chicken
7 blackberries
More cheese
I wasn’t feeling well uesterday and didnt have a big appitite.
I do use My oil in my coffee
I also purchased keto testing strips I tested level 15 small…so am I in ketosis? Still confused about that.
Is darker better…
Of course Im right in the middle.
Thanks for everyones suppprt Im just going to keep going!
Still working hard
Look at it this way, if you’re using them as fuel, you’re peeing less of them out. Say you’re in ketosis and have a heavy carb meal. You might test really dark/high on the strips because your body is using glucose and those ketones are being dumped. If you’re in ketosis and using them as fuel you will see a much lighter result or none even.
The strips are useful in the beginning (my first strip was VERY dark) but as you continue eating low enough carbs to remain in ketosis they really don’t tell you much else. Also, testing in the evening generally results in a higher reading v. morning.
I know you said you weren’t feeling well yesterday, but I hope in general you eat more than that! Chicken breast is not fatty, so I would try to add in another source of fat at the chicken meals. As you progress you can eat less fat, but it is very important in the beginning. Glad you are doing well! Thanks for the update!
Lower levels of joint pain was a significant nsv for me as well. It becomes really evident when you have a long stint of strict keto and then have a higher carb meal or day. The next morning is a real treat. It’s always a good reminder for me to KCKO.
I am so happy for you @Isabel_Rodriguez this is a very motivating and significant change, even if there was no weight loss aspect to keto it would still be such an improvement.
Dietary intake does matter with curing disease in the body. Food is medicine and for healthy body maintenance, not for entertaining our mouths. Not saying keto food can’t be delicious, tasty or satisfying. After carb withdrawal I really began to love this food and I find it very satisfying to eat this way. It’s kind of like throwing away all those stupid styrofoam pellets (carbs) when you get something delivered and open the box to get to the good stuff you need. Who really needs all that filler in with their food? NO ONE
Thank you for your good vibes. It helps a lot.Yes I think the way you look at it help a lot.Somewhere yesterday I was like wait look at all these amazing benefits in just one week. Can’t wait to keep going.
Don’t think of it as “despite the scale”…as in, a 2 lb loss is a good loss! I’m not a fan of weighing because I think we judge our success/failure by it too much, but if you’re going to weigh, then keep it in perspective. 2 lbs is a very good loss on a weekly basis.
Not having that back pain? That’s a major success! I know I used to get out of bed in the am and have to “shuffle” for the first few minutes until the joints loosened up enough to make moving comfortable. I don’t do that any more…just out of bed and moving! It was a subtle change, but significant!
I know how amazing this is to you. I’ve had nagging back pain for the past 10 years. Degenerative bone disease which basically means I’ve got an old man’s back. Since I’ve done keto the nagging pain has gone away and I often forget it’s supposed to be bothering me.
Congrats on your relief.
