Stevia

Does anyone feel stevia makes them more hungry? I see so many people on keto drinking diet Cokes and eating protein low carb cookies but I feel like I can’t. I feel worse. Just wondering if others have that experience.

I use some sweetners. Don’t note a change. Although I don’t add them to some things now.

All I know is when I want “sweet” (which is infrequent) I want SWEET, and neither stevia nor erythritol do it for me. :frowning: Once I tried to make hot chocolate by adding, like, 12 drops of Stevia plus erythritol to my mug - it didn’t taste great plus gave me a headache.

Digression: Dr. Phinney and Dr. Volek have a recipe for Maple Ice Cream which uses real maple syrup, and I plan to make it. I think that for those who are really fat-adapted and not food addicts, or just doing one meal a day on IF - a half teaspoon of actual simple sugar like maple syrup, or much better, raw honey is doable. I had to wait until feeling at the 100% fat adapted point (around month 7) to change my mind on this though, I felt vulnerable to over-indulging.

I’ve heard this happens to some people. Doesn’t do anything to me personally. I use a LOT of liquid splenda. I drink a lot of sugar-free Monster energy drinks. I’ve never had any of them drive up my cravings for the real thing. I use them frequently and liberally. I’ve read/heard on podcasts that some people go crazy with cravings for real sugar and carby stuff once they get started on stuff like Stevia but that doesn’t seem to apply to me.

Having been a long time stevia user (8 years) I will say yes, stevia makes me hungry.
