Steroid diabetic/ Diabetic due to prednisone!?

Hi everyone! In August 15’ my mom was diagnosed with Leukemia and since then she has had a bone marrow transplant which has forced her to be on a steroid for over a year and a half. Which has caused her to become steroid diabetic! I’ve been doing keto for a few months now and I’m trying to convince my mother to give keto a try because I believe it’ll benefit her greatly! If any of y’all are diabetic or have loved ones who are and they or yourselves benefit well from a keto diet, please please PLEASE let me in on some of y’all’s tricks and tips! Tough. I suggested to hubby this morning that his constant pain(inflammation) and poor sleep might be improved by cutting out starches and sugar. He said “What would I eat?” I said, “Same as me…meat, green veggies, and fats”. A snort is all the feed back I got.:confused:
