Starting Keto - Cheating Keto

That’s how I discovered the joy of spinach sautéed in garlic and butter. It was a side in an Italian restaurant. Heaven!

Something else I’ve done at a buffet type event where the only choice is highly carby finger food. I’ll take the sandwiches and pull all the fillings out and make a very nice mixed selection. I try to avoid eye contact with others and hide the bread in plant pots :sunglasses:

What did that plant ever do to you? haha

:grinning: Scrawny things looked like they needed to carb up!

It looks like you have been given some great tips here. For me, every get together I have with friends or family I choose to bring food with me. For example, I knew we would be getting together for Memorial Day so I invited the whole family to my house. I cooked hamburgers and hot dogs, my mom brought her famous potato salad, I made dill pickle cole slaw (keto) and my brother brought pies. I made some keto friendly desserts. If I am invited somewhere, I always bring something so I can enjoy some food, too, and to introduce them to something different. “Oh that’s keto? Yum!” If I go out to dinner or for drinks, I stick with diet soda and rum or vodka. (I have found that low carb beers, at least Michelob Ultra, make me crave carbs so I stay away now. I miss beer  - good beer anyway, not Michelob Ultra. I digress.

I order a bunless burger wrapped in lettuce or a steak salad. I always ask the waitpeople questions if I have any concerns. My family and friends get used to this. Hopefully yours will, too. At the end of the day I don’t really care what they think or say about it. I am doing what I need to to be healthy.
Good luck!!

Went for a pub lunch on Monday. Asked for a burger and salad instead of chips and extra bacon or fried eggs instead of the bread.

I got a burger with 5 rashers of bacon  mmmm

I was in a Golden Corral a few weeks ago when I guy walked by with about 5 pound of BBQ piled on his plate. The other customers looked on in horror lol I just smiled and thought AWESOME!

me too. but not so much that I will stray off my course. There will be the occasional craft beer in my future, thinner life.

Good evening all.

Apologies but I haven’ checked in again until this evening as the notifications were going into my spam box (oh the irony - those from UK will get it!)

Thanks so much everyone, for your replies, short, in-depth and otherwise. You’ve give me a much better understanding of your thought process when faced with these issues.

I guess, because i’ve not started yet, i’m worry for no real reason but it gives me a real boost for when I start

Again, thanks so much for your help
