I have Hispanic family members - so they are all about black beans and tortillas. Hubby is 55 with good BG, great BP, and a non-fatty liver - so I can’t really convince him to change anything at this time. The son’s Pepsi - yes, I harp on that.
Yes, currently my living situation is just me and my daughter (10 y.o.) and I always feel like a terrible parent buying her kraft macaroni and pizza rolls
Correct, correct, correct… 3 bad’uns in there… there are more, but I am not sure they are visible. Just taken a closer look and there’s a few more visible in there…
Correct and no. But I think you got the last one… bloody lemonade… ie pure flippin sugar… my son lives on this, gawd knows what his blood sugar levels go like. I hope he grows out of it. But telling a 15 year old youth what to eat is a mug’s game. He is as thin as a rake right now and nearly 6 bloody feet, so he’s not doing too badly on it.
So, here’s the non-keto list…
Lemonade
Choc biscuits
Pasta (you can see the end of the packet, but you’d never know it was pasta)
Pasta ready meals
Potatoes
White bread
Apples
Chicken schnitzels
Peas
Tangerines (you can’t see them in the pic)
Hash browns (wrapped in paper)
2 pizzas (buried underneath the pile)
Now compare keto list…
Pork joint
Chicken wings
Beef mince
Pork belly
Chicken drumsticks (these are actually for the dog!!)
Cream
Cream cheese
Shredded cheddar (this is what you might have seen as chips, @Karim_Wassef)
Shaved Parmesan
Brie
Broccoli
Brocollini
Onion (just keto?)
Mushrooms
Olive oil
Mixed nuts
Eggs
Blueberries
Raspberries
Butter
Bacon
Steak
So, even though there’s only 1 ketoer in the family, I get “mostly” keto foods. The others have to specifically ask for non-keto foods (apart from peas, which I eat as well).
We shop disjointedly, meat and frozen veggies from Costco, other items from the local grocery chain. I looked at my cart this past week, and realized out of the entire cart I would only be eating/drinking 3 or 4 items, cheese, wine, blueberries, and maybe some beef snack sticks. Kind of depressing, to realize if I lived alone how small my grocery bill would be.
Even though there are some carby items in this grocery haul, the majority is real food (as opposed to processed) and that’s to be applauded. The non-keto people in your household seem to be eating far better than most of the population.
