Spot Reduction & Fat Mobilization

This is completely a random thought and in no way saying I found evidence for it. But spit-storming here…We have always been told that “spot reduction” does not exist, that our bodies will burn fat proportional throughout our body and not especially in one area due to increased exercise. Although I do not fully know that mechanics behind this line of thinking, it still makes you wonder why many people are walking around with chicken legs and big mid-sections (we obviously use our legs alot more than our abs).
However, I wonder if Keto is a game-changer with this concept. As sugar-burners, a person will find it very difficult to mobilize body-fat for energy, but as fat-burners, we can do this with ease. If so, what if we CAN reduce more fat in one area with more energy demands from the particular muscles. If we do a 1,000 sit-ups a day as sugar-burners nothing happens, but as a Ketonian, would a bunch of sit-ups cause us to mobilize the fat in that area? At least more easily? :thinking:

I’m afraid that fat mobilization is the same dynamics. Probably the only exception is if you are a fat burner then your liver is exporting less fat, and burning more - so that makes a difference for all the fat that is stored around your viscera.

When you are a carb burner all that splanchnic fat is overflow from your liver not being able to export fat fast enough, so it stores it locally. When you are a fat burner the liver can keep pace with exporting fat it doesn’t use so that locally stored stuff doesn’t increase. Also your liver is making ketones to export energy to your brain and other consumers, so it’s burning a lot of fat. And if your liver is burning more than is available in circulation then it’ll draw down that locally deposited fat.

Soooo the TL;DR version is no we don’t get specific fat spot reduction, but we can lose that central obesity more rapidly than subcutaneous fat.
