Soylent Green

I think it only semi-creates a desensitized reaction in theoretical discussions. I seriously doubt that, if a new-world Hitler were to rise to power, that people would turn a blind eye because language has evolved in using “nazi” as a slang term for adamantly hostile in regards to a certain movement or behavior.

As far as it making it harder for people to point out actual Nazis? Strongly disagree. You would have to be woefully uneducated to confuse what an actual Nazi is, in the historic sense. But, the way America is going, I wouldn’t doubt that. But I blame that on the poor educational system rather than evolution of slang.

Is it in bad taste? I mean, Soup Nazi from Seinfeld is one of the most quoted skits in all of sitcom history, written and acted out by all Jews. I’m in a part of the country where we have Jews a’plenty. I’m friends with, and have been friends with many of them throughout my life. They, as well, have referred to the slang usage of “Nazi”. I also work for Hasidic Jews, and the owner himself has used this terminology himself. Doesn’t mean that if some new eradicative movement were to occur, that people would get confused and start running into walls.

I mean it could get you elected President of the United States, or at least an Iowan representative or Mississippian senator. And yet people have a hard time nowadays calling a duck a duck, and yes because we took a word that has a specific meaning and flanderized it to mean “anyone I disagree with.”

And there’s a big difference between Jewish people making N@zi jokes and gentiles making those jokes.

American voting patterns have proven otherwise. A “shocking” number of college educated whites apparently can’t spot a duck when they see one.

Lol educated like Aunt Becky’s kids and Jared Kushner…

Primarily because vegans leave a bad taste in the mouth, amiright? People, on the other hand . . .

In my opinion, that’s a very liberal usage of the slang term. I’d say if anyone uses it in that way, they wouldn’t even be using the slang correctly.

Mostly because no one’s allowed to say anything anymore, without someone getting insulted, offended, upset, and oftentimes on behalf of the target subject that they, themselves, have nothing to do with. They often seem to be more offended than the group or persons a comment may be directed toward. Can’t say this. Can’t say that. Political Correctness is just a glitter covered turd and stealthy way to inhibit free speech, which is the last beacon of our rights. When that goes, just bring me my Orwellian future, I suppose.

Let people say what they want. Let consequence of actions or speech play their role. We can’t muzzle the entire planet because people have grown some thin skin. I’m overweight. but I wouldn’t make people stop saying fat jokes because my feelings may get hurt, even though I’m not even the target of the joke per se. If someone is that ruthless, there’s consequence, either seen or unseen. By muzzling everyone in the name of a “better future” it’s just a quick pathway to tyranny. In the name of a “better future”, we’re just devolving into mindless cattle.

If someone wants to be an idiotic racist, and spout hate, I won’t agree with their terrible point of view, but I will defend their right to say it. I will also be glad if I happen to catch sight of the consequence of
of the dumb things they’ve said or done.

If you believe the American voting system is an untainted, uncontrolled way to put elected officials into office, I have a bridge to sell you.

Taking this over to my thread to get it back on topic.

I think the word you’re looking for is “authoritarianism.” It can happen on the left or the right. Don’t forget, Nazism is a kind of socialism. The point isn’t really the name of the philosophy, it’s who’s pulling the strings. As long as the elite have the real power, it doesn’t matter what they call the political system, they’ll be in control no matter what.

They want us controlled, living in smart cities away from both the literal and figurative fat of the land. They want us to eat cheap to grow slave food. In their world, well all be living Google city, being watched by our telescreens. Did I say telescreens? I meant smart TV’s, smart phones, and GPS enabled smart watches. We’ll “get” to “enjoy” our Soylent slop three times a day.

We’ve been warned so many times. Brave New World, 1984, Animal Farm, and Fahrenheit 451 were all required reading when I was in high school, yet people refuse to believe it’s a real threat that’s being revealed every day. Pornosec, Orgy Porgy, Anti-Sex Leauges. It’s here now! There are environmentalist open Anti-Sexers in the UK now! I’m sure most of us have seen Soylent Green. Lots of others have too, but when they see a real Soylent type product, they’re intrigued. Remember the movie? There were different soylents, of which Soylent Green was one type. The world Soylent is a portmanteau of soy and lentil. The soylents were cheap plant protein bars for the destitute masses, while the few rich lived in their walled community and ate things like strawberry jam made with real strawberries. The fact that someone would willingly consume an actual product modeled after that boggles my mind.

Don’t leave, you pseudo-elitist , and pseudo-intellectual Leftists are so entertaining. I love it the way you can’t really get past the subjective morality of your indoctrinated religious dogma and realize how brainwashed you are. National Socialism, Democratic Socialism, Soviet Socialism, etc. There’s no real difference.

All right, folks. Enough with the politics. Keep the discussion on keto-related matters, please. It’s not that these aren’t issues that need dealing with, it’s that our mission here is to help people regain their health by means of the ketogenic diet, and we can’t afford to dilute the value of these forums by broadening our discussion too far beyond that baisc mission.

No, what you’re talking about is race hate. National Socialism is a political ideology just one step away from Socialism. Very easy to take that step and start demanding of others how they should live and be controlled by government. What they should think, what they should eat.

The political compass is a dangerous thing, and most Socialists are in fact Fascists, they just haven’t realized it yet!

Amen!

#32

@PaulL you see that I tried, right? I did try.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #33

I see that you tried, and thank you.

Now that everyone has said what they think they needed to say about it. Let’s stop the political conversation here and if you want to discuss it in your own accountability thread go for it.

I went to a Soylent Green potluck movie party once. They projected the movie in their backyard on a giant sheet and we all sat around eating body parts.

I brought dried hibiscus flowers from Trader Joe’s (pre-keto days) because they looked like blood clots. Somebody went all out and created a small body out of Spam, mashed potatoes, and dips that we could cut into and spread on things–he even had water chestnut bones inside and a brain made out of gelatin. Another guy peeled radishes to look like eyeballs and put them in Bloody Marys.

Ironically, since going carnivore, I’d be a lot more dangerous to invite now.
