so i have started the keto journey august 2 2018. i have lost 15 pounds since then and have been stalling the past week and half. I started off 220 pounds and now I’m at 205. i am 25 years old and a female… mind you last year this time i was 160 pounds so I’m trying to lose all this extra wight that i gained since. also… (sorry for the gross detail) but my period started today and this past week i felt bloated and was wondering if that could be the reason why i stalled?? can anyone help me with this? i have been eating on the dot with everything… however i do eat quest bars once a day with my coffee… is that ok? and i was so discouraged that yesterday (with my period symptoms) i had 2 small sweets and today i checked i was out of ketosis. ugh can you keto friends help me get mentally on track?? I’m just bummed out. what should i do do help me lose weight and get out of this stall??
Soo discouraged...need info and help
One and a half weeks isn’t a stall. Weight loss is not linear. Menstrual cycle can make you gain weight or retain water.
but how about getting back to ketosis?? today i checked with the urine test and I’m out of ketosis with those 2 sweets! is it fast to get back on ketosis or does it takes a few days again?
Well all you can do is get back on track. I don’t know how long it will take surely no more than a day or maybe two max.
I fall off the proverbial horse all the time, so I am no expert on how to be successful. What I can say is there is no point in worrying about something after the fact. That’s why the phrase “Keep Calm and Keto on” (KCKO) is so popular.
You can’t control ketones so you’ll get back when you get back. Sorry, that’s probably infuriatingly unhelpful.
a, don’t eat sweets
b. get a blood ketone meter and stop using pee strips
c. ignore the 2 above and KCKO
You just gotta keep going. I started around 215 and am now down to 189 in 2 months. Some weeks I don’t lose, some weeks I gain a little, but I don’t sweat it. Our periods can definitely cause temporary gains/short stalls, so try to keep that in mind!
I’m in and out of keto alot. I’m new too. I usually get back into keto within a day.
It’s faster if you go longer without eating.
As stated by others, 2 weeks isn’t a stall. However I can offer what has helped me. I started in May at 235. I have lost 35 and was 199 this morning . I had a stall in the past month and realized my meals were sort of blending together. Now I drink HWC in my coffee in the morning, have a definite lunch and a definite dinner. No snacking when it isn’t time to eat. I was on a retreat recently and sort of forced me into that time restricted eating. Sure enough the weight has started to move.
My friend stalled on her period.
Please don’t let yourself be so focused on the scale. It WILL go down. I’ve only lost 4 lbs in 4 weeks, but I can feel what this diet is doing to my relationship with food and cravings, so I’m not freaking out because I KNOW long term I’m going to be in a very good way.
You’re doing awesome. Btw, I used to eat Quest bars and don’t on this diet. The carb count I’d pretty high and the don’t have the right balance. What is the carb count?
Yes, I am realizing the importance of a regular schedule, no matter what that may be.
Throw away your scales and measure yourself or go by how your clothes fit and how good you feel. That’s a much better indicator of how you’re doing.
thank you so much for your reply! is their a blood meter you recommend in particular?
do u mind telling me what HWC is??? i use mct oil in my coffee. whats a typical lunch and dinner for you???
thank you for replying! do you go by net carbs or regular carbs?? i get the chocolate brownie quest bars and the carbs are around 25 but the dietary fiber is like 17. i started the keto by following this book and said she recommends going by net carbs but I’m not sure??? i think i need to stop the quest bars maybe and perhaps only have 1 on special occasions
I’m in the UK and use a meter called a Caresens dual which measures ketones and blood glucose… in the US there is the keto mojo I believe although I have no experience of using it.
The rule is net carbs, do you’re doing it right.
There’s 17 grams of fiber!? That’s a ton. Are you sure… nevermind… I’ll get some for myself then!
