I would simply add to his remarks about a ketogenic diet up-regulating the body’s own anti-oxidants, that the key appears to be beta-hyrdoxybutyrate, which not only exercises an anti-oxidant effect, but which also acts as a hormone to signal certain genes to turn off, the genes in question being the ones that turn off the body’s natural anti-oxidant defenses (particularly glutathione), the result being to reduce or even eliminate the need for the anti-oxidant effects of vitamin C. I only mention this because I find it fascinating; it’s an excellent article as is.
