Hi all,

I love this forum !!

Im new to keto around 7 weeks, fat adapted (that’s what i think ) im usually not hungry and have only 1 meal a day ( eggs, veggies and cheese mostly)… rest i have black coffee , tea and lemon water with salt.
For exercise i just walk for around 7 - 8 kms per day.

Have lost inches and around 7 kgs… im in happy space and feel good generally BUT not energetic… im getting irritated very easily and dont like being active…
I take thyroid 50 mg , metamorphin 1000mg and multivitamin tablet everyday…

My doc says im still not in condition to stop my medication.
My H1AC is dropped from 6.2 to 5.4
My TSH is dropped from 3.8 to 1.9
In 3 months of time.

Please advice what im doing wrong…

Thanks
Renu

Doesn’t sound like your eating enough with your omad meal. Not getting enough fuel for your body will zap your mood and your energy. Try two meals and see if that helps. KCKO

I read somewhere that on keto eat only when ur hungry so i follow that only…but now wondering

I suggest going to two meals a day with a nice gap in between them so you can get more nutrition into you.

Yeah, but so early in your adaptation it might be better to ramp up the foods. You’re probably low on energy because the body is still working on switching fuels. Adding more fat (more eggs, meat, fish, cheese) will help that. Try not to fall into oil-chugging if you can help it, though.

I agree with the above. You should be eating more and looking to get all the micronutrients your body needs. You can get lab work done to check your vitamin levels, especially vitamin D, B12, and B6. If you’re deficient in any of these, you might struggle with energy.

Thanks all, will get tests done !! I believe have to plan 2 proper meals and check if i get better…

Your doc should be questioned. At those levels I would stop all medications.
N=1, I stopped all medications (Jan 2018) at A1c 6.0, BP 125/75. Haven’t looked back since.
Bye bye conventional doctors. They know nothing about chronic disease- just pills

I agree with others. You are not eating nearly enough food.

I would ask my doctor what H1Ac he wants me to have, before he will stop my metformin.

Is it that he isn’t happy with the 5.4, or that he wants to see if you can maintain this (wonderful) H1Ac?

It doesn’t make sense to me.

This to me is an indicator that you are not “fully” fat adapted. I am sure you are on your way but not there yet. The only way I knew when I was fat adapted was I could run five miles without walking or feeling weak in the legs. This was at about three months in but I am a slow learner. Your results may be faster.

The figures all seem to be moving in the right direction. Good to see.

Yes, generally speaking that advice works for most people - most of the time …

But even if that was the case 99% of the time then it is still no consolation to the 1% of people where a tweak is required, right.

You can under eat on keto and you can overeat. And there can be other conditions like low iron etcetera etcetera. Thyroid function …

We don’t need to count calories but how many are you having?

And I didn’t see meat on your list (which contains so many nutrients, you can do keto as a vegetarian but you need to ensure so many nutrients are not lacking …)

Hi,

Yes i missed to mention my cal count…
I eat around 700-1000 cal per day.
I don’t eat meat but fine with eggs…
I take egg cheese veggies etc + multivitamins

Last few days trying to eat 2 meals and cal to around 1000-1200… feeling better… yet to gwt my tests done… will soon update…

Thanks
