Soluble Corn Fiber - Keto friendly?

(Edie) #1

I found a supposedly keto friendly dark chocolate that I love - total carbs 15g less dietary fiber 13g = 2g net carbs. This sounds good to me but there seems to be controversy around soluble corn fiber (SCF). I researched SCF a bit and found some great info on ketogenic.com. Specifically, they wrote that the glycemic index for SCF is approximately 25, which is very low, and led them to conclude that SCF is a ketogenic-friendly fiber, which has been demonstrated to act as a true fiber … additionally, SCF is very tolerable in the gut despite its profound prebiotic activity.

Any advice/opinions from the community regarding SCF would be very much appreciated.

I think different people have different results. I’d suggest trying a small serving and test your blood sugar after 30 min. ad 60 min.

If there’s little effect to your blood sugar, and you have no gastric issues, a small amount may be fine for you IMO.
