Hi all,
Rather new at this, and my ketones have been blood testing mostly > 5.0. I’m putting it down to IF with 20 hr fasts.
Today my partner and I decided to go up Mt. Takao (Takao-san) near Tokyo and catch the fall colors. My partner (non carb restricted) decided to have a bowl of soba at a restaurant near the top. Not me. Tasty, nutritious, but the stuff is about 25g of carbs per cup. Too rich for me at the moment.
Hiding my small round of camembert cheese under the table, and drinking green tea, I decided to have 150 ml of hot nihonshu (rice wine) which I knew would “cost” about 7.5 g of carbs, on a rather brisk day. This was around 1:00 pm. Back at home later, I tested myself at 4:45 pm. The number was 3.9, the lowest I’ve tested yet.
Total carbs for the day was 22.44, which is as high as I’ve been for a while (usually 10 to 15). It was also a no-aerobic day for me (rare), but I did some squats and resistance training in the early am, but on the light side. Low protein day. Plenty of fat. Avocado. Macadamia nuts. Camembert. A bit unbalanced because we decided to go to the mountains in a rush, and I cut my fast back 1 hr to accommodate this.
First alcohol for me in about 100 days, too.
I guess I’m still good to go, yes?
I’m currently trying to add just enough carbs back to get down to the 1.5 to 3.5 range (which I’ve never been tested in yet).
Yuki
