Snoring- I've stopped and not convinced it's weight loss

Interestingly, right when I wrote my topic I see some “similar topics” in the sidebar (that’s brilliant).
I’m going to proceed with my topic as many of us are new and be interested. I started a Keto diet, more Omad than anything else the day before Thanksgiving, that’s November 27th. I’m almost three months in! I’ve lost 30.9 pounds which equals 14 kilograms.
Almost instantly I noticed I stopped snoring. I guess it wasn’t waking me up so I asked my hubby and he agreed I wasn’t snoring.
I don’t think its weightloss (might have helped), but I have a good reason.
I’m a new snorer…my first snore (told that I snored) was on a three month hike through France and Spain. We were sleeping in a small chapel among the vineyards and my children recorded my snoring, had they not I would have denied it! At that time I was the least amount of weight in the past 15 years. So my snoring started when I was at my most fit, but clearly at exhaustion.

It has kept up over the past three years, with a large weight gain (expected) post hike and a return to my real world.

I’m really convinced Keto has done something else to my body vs the weight loss to cause me to totally stop snoring so quickly into it. Could inflammation or decrease of it really do that? I’m thinking so…

Others?
Thoughts?

Scientifically, I can’t say, however, I was a pretty serious snorer. Within three weeks of starting keto, my husband said I stopped snoring completely. I believe it was due to all the inflammation I had lost from being on keto. In addition to stopping snoring, my legs and joints felt so much better. They used to just ache, and it would be painful to walk. Shortly after starting, I could walk normally. An old groin injury that was virtually constant and debilitating from forty years earlier went away. All of these were such a blessing.

Let me tell you my experience with snoring.

When I weighed 400 pounds I was snoring so loud I can actually hear myself snore LOL plus, I was also waking up several times in the middle of the night trying to catch my breath. Lo and behold because of my weight I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and put on a CPAP machine.

Once I started using the CPAP machine the snoring and the feeling of choking completely stop.

Move forward 23 months when I lost 180 pounds I decided one night not to use his CPAP machine miraculously I didn’t snore or wake up in the middle of the night trying to catch my breath. That was two years ago and I haven’t used the CPAP machine since.

My family Dr. who knows me for 20 years said to me the snoring had to do with me being overweight. It also mention that sleep apnea plus being as heavy as I was increases your risk of developing insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome. This disorder, which includes high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol levels, high blood sugar and an increased waist circumference, is linked to a higher risk of heart disease.

I’m happy to announce that my snoring days are over my insulin resistance is in remission thanks to losing weight on keto.

Now when I go to my doctor’s office the staff and my doctor doesn’t even recognize me anymore which is a blessing in the sky.

Snoring is definitely connected to obesity. But not only. Many OLDER people snore and this is because their mucous membranes become …erm… saggy.

My husband has always been thin but he started doing keto to support me and liked the constant energy. He still snored.

This summer we moved over to the carnivore diet. His snoring stopped. It definitely wasn’t obesity causing his trouble . I think some food he was eating caused inflammation that made him snore.

I am 53 and was starting to snore as well. The snorts would wake me up. I was even snoring when sleeping on my side. Supposedly, snoring is something that frequently starts in women as they head into menopause. When I started carnivore my snoring also went away.

People who are over weight usually have inflammation as well. I put my money on low inflammation, no snoring.
