Sneaky sneaky sneaky

Ugh, labels! I guess I look at one thing: Carbs.
I saw 1g. And calories 110. A very good thing to have on hand for an unexpected snack attack, right?

THEN when I get them home, I look again and notice there are TWO columns, one for the cheese and one for the salami. AND the serving size for EACH item is 1 and 1/2!

So… those little salmi slices are 1 and 1/2 servings, and same for the cheese. Grrrr.
It’s obviously not the end of the world and it’s an “ok” snack.
But being that sneaky is incredibly maddening.

No more skimming and assuming.

PS: I did get a chuckle when I went on the hunt for pork rinds. And ALL they had were vegan non-pork pork rinds. LOL.
Only at Trader Joes!

It seems quite low-carb but I admit such labels confuse me, I want numbers for 100g too and decimal points in carbs, I am spoiled by Hungarian labels  And I don’t see what is the full weight. But the carbs are low.

Wow, that’s a lean salami… Ours are typically way fattier.

Oh my. I never saw THAT before! I only saw jackfruit and whatnot (banana flower? I don’t remember, some kind of flower, vegans are… creative) in duck roast flavor and the like  Yeah, sure.
I never disliked normal vegans but those things are hilariously pathetic  I could never be that desperate… But when I was a vegetarian, I simply didn’t eat meat, it was pretty easy. Never was a vegan though but if I was, I would eat honest plants  Or not so honest ones but seitan isn’t even remotely similar to meat, it’s just super delicious when I do it. And the most satiating thing I ever ate as far as I can tell. I still stick to carnivore as much as I can and I really don’t desire the thing ever, I just see the positive points.
We have pork rinds in more and more places (I never saw any until a few years ago. we have scratchings and that’s it) but they are very expensive while not containing meat so no thanks. I don’t even like scratchings (enough to buy them, at least, they are still crunchy and fatty and nice) without meat and that’s a rare variant.

Who puts 1.5 servings in a package? Three oz. is 85 g, so why didn’t they make it an even 4 oz. or 100 g? And call it one serving, because that’s what people are going to eat. Obviously there are shenanigans going on, and they are manipulating the serving size to disguise something.

I actually like that they list the sausage and the cheese separately, but you’re right that it’s confusing. I looked at that nutrition panel and could feel my eyes glazing over, which I suspect is part of the reason for doing it that way.

I stay away from salami. Too many calories for not much.

I’m usually do too. I would never keep much in my house. But these looked so small and harmless that they seemed perfect for the rare need to just munch on something.
Lesson learned.

Again.

That can be a blessing sometimes.
And it’s a pretty low-cal salami anyway. It’s similar to the cheese and if it’s a proper salami, it has more flavor than that. Unless it’s a very flavorful cheese, I don’t know it.
