Sneaky buggers

I work in a hospital. You know where this is going right? We treat diabetics and create them in the same setting. It is like a diabetes factory.

So, I got lazy and did not pack lunch but rather went to the cafeteria. It is taco tuesday and without the chips a taco salad is pretty keto. Well, except that when I got a bite of the chicken it was syrupy sweet. I went to the kitchen and asked. The cook said, with such an innocent look, I just drizzled some honey on it. I was had!

Ha! My previous hospital (Tripler, in Hawaii) would always have Krispy Kreme donut fund raisers. They made THOUSANDS of dollars each time they did it. It was at least a weekly thing. The irony was strong with that one. I think they’ve since realized how terrible and hypocritical that was and don’t do it anymore.

Anyway, I’m not surprised. Hospital kitchen cooks aren’t paid to create healthy dishes - just to mass-produce what they recipe demands.

I am not surprised either. Been dodging donuts all week. But I do wonder if it is premeditated.
