Snack/Breakfast Bars (in a pinch)?

#1

Hi

I will be leaving for 6 months in Mexico soon. Last year I took Kind Bars for situations where the other alternatives would be much worse.

I have been reading and a lot of people like the Quest Bars. The issue for me is that they should be kept cold and I will be driving from Mississippi to central Mexico with a number of stops so that wouldn’t work. Atkins seems to be a mistake for most people.

What bar/snack options do you like, ones that don’t throw us out of ketosis? I need to purchase in the next 2 weeks and take them with me as low carb/keto premade products can be super hard or impossible to find there.

Thank you!

I have never kept quest bars cold. They are my go to treat if I feel the need for one. Never had an issue.

Nah, that’s not necessary. Heck, a LOT of people even microwave them to soften 'em up!

But anyway, are you just looking for snacks for the drive, or are you looking to pack enough for the entire time you’re in Mexico?

Beef Jerky(low carb of course)! And Hard Cheeses. Better than a snack bar…

We like Epic bison/bacon/cranberry bars, or else we make our own grass fed jerky using ground beef and an extruder. The lowest sugar Kind bars are good too.

I’ve heard of people taking a block of cream cheese and it won’t kick you out of ketosis. Or a stick of butter. I’m not judging, I’m just saying.

Meat sticks and spam single serve packets are great in a pinch.

I’d buy boxes of slim Jim’s and jerky before quest bars.

I was seduced by the quest bars a year ago. Next thing I knew I was plowing down 3-4 a day. In a pinch, they are probably a good choice
