Has anyone used smart scales to track progress? I’m interested mostly to check fat loss since scale numbers tend to fluctuate for various reasons.
Smart Scales?

The bio-impedance scales are inherently not all that accurate. They are influenced, for example, by how hydrated or not one is at the time of weighing. But even a DEXA scan is susceptible to the same problem. I guess that, as long as you’re not expecting perfection, an impedance scale should serve you okay.

If you’re trying to measure fat, gravitational pull is a poor way of going about it. Try a tape measure on key areas and leave the Earth’s tug aside as it tells you very little in the scheme of things.
How do you feel? How are your dimensions changing? are you careful to stay properly hydrated (which happens to add water weight)? … now there are some metrics worth tracking over time.
