Slowed weight loss, now gaining!

(R L) #1

I started keto 2/13/18 and had lost 52 lbs.
In the beginning i didnt know how many calories i should be eating so i went with almost 1500 that was recommeded by a calorie calculator.
I log everything on my lose it app. I didnt restrict calories intentionally (but its hard to completely ignore them)I put my focus on two macros (carbs and fats) thinking the correct protien amount would automatically fall into place.
Since joining this forum, ive learned a lot and have recalculated my macros and upped my calories. Lose it kept reducing my calories each time i lost weight and my calorie limit was around 1200 the first time i bumped it up. I remembered my dietician said not to go below 1400 so june 1st i went up to 1500. Shortly after that i was reading here that you should set your weight for maintain instead of a deficit, so june 19 i set it at 2248.
According to my calculations at 5’3" 245 lbs moderately active, my macros should be 2306 cal 198 fat 20 carbs 112 protien.
Over the last 30 days i have averaged 1874 cal, 172 fat, carb 17, pro 67.
My problem is that since the middle of May, my weight loss has slowed and i am actually begining to gain!
Can anyone help me figure out what im doing wrong?
Id sure appreciate it. Im desperate to keep this weight off!
Thanks, Becky

The only thing I can offer is to ignore the calories your food tracker says you have remaining, and follow your appetite. Eat to satiety, no more.

Try setting the activity level to sedentary. I started a couple of days before you and lost 40 pounds by 4-41/2 months and then stalled for a bit gaining and losing 4 pounds over and over. Finally broke through this week and I attribute it to tightening up my macros, upping my protein a little and logging everything. It’s worked for me. I am thinking of going carnivore for a month to see what happens. Good luck.

Don’t worry about calories. Eat to satiety. With Keto, that should naturally limit you most times.

Thank you all, I have been eating to satiety and what i have noticed is most of the time my calories will be under my limit and then other days it spikes.
Could my metabolism be trying to adapt to the higher calories? About 7 weeks ago lose it had me at 1200, but i wasnt trying to stay at that level but it did happen part of the time.
I will try setting it to sedentary and see what thats like.
It seemed liked i hovered at 49 lb loss for over a month and struggled to lose that 1 little lb that kept me from that milestone. Then i finally lost it and i thought i had broken thru the plateau, but now here i am gaining!
