Sleepy, tired - 2 months in

#1

Hello,
I’ve been eating keto since 7th october. At the beginning it was roughly 50g carbs and i’ve changed it to 20-30g per day (1 month ago).
It’s already 2 months in on high fat diet and i’m so weak, sleepy(especially after eating), tired and from time to time i want to vomit.
My weight is the same and it has to be cause i don’t have problems with body composition. I eat coconut oil as much as i need to feel satisfy + a lot of meat (i’m huuungry).
Drink water when feel thirsty, supplement pottasium 1000mg + 200mg magnesium, eat about 1,5-2teaspoon of himalaya salt.

What to do? How to live ?

Questions to get you thinking about what might be wrong…

How are stress and sleep? Keto sometimes disturbs sleep so you might actually have to focus on getting enough more than before keto. Also, keto (as with any other change for the body) by itself can be a stress - if it is compounding other stresses in your life - that could be messing up your hormones further.

Have you accidentally gone low on calories? With the high fat some people forget to eat enough. You mentioned you eat a lot of meat but, a couple of ribeye steaks is not enough to cover what you need in a day.

Your electrolytes look like they’re covered.

Given what you have written I would look at 3 things:

  1. Genetics (23andme) to see if you might be a truly natural carb burner trying to be a fat burner
  2. You might want to revert back to a diet where you know you regularly felt good - if you don’t feel better soon, you might want to look at the next option
  3. You might want to go to a doctor - feeling sleepy is “okay” as hormones adjust (my opinion - not a doctor) but wanting to vomit does not seem to be okay - that is a reaction from your body that it is truly not a happy camper and something needs to be looked into

I guess i’m carb burner. I have never had problems with body composition. I love fruits and i used to eat 0,5kg per day, etc. I had no limits
I started keto due mental problems (OCD, fucked brain chemistry). If i add again some carbs
and daily eat 50-70g carbs will i have benefits from high fat diet?

Keto tends to make a lot of things better and that includes mental clarity.

Maybe start upping carbs a little and see if you can stay keto (i.e. continue to supply the brain with mostly ketones) to keep most of that benefit.
