Sleepy and Smelly

(Samantha ) #1

Week 3 of my Keto journey and I can not sleep and I smell horrible. My main focus this week is upping my fat and lowering my protein to fit more keto macros.
No matter how many showers I take or deodorant I put on I feel like my body still smells. I also can not get rid of this horrible breath! PLEASE tell me this goes away over time…I am sensitive to smells and I just can’t handle this. I am now using specialty bad breath mouthwash and toothpaste, carting around deodorants and perfume, switched to Ph balancing body wash, and am popping mints like it is my job.

I also can not seem to sleep more than three hours a night. I am up every hour staring at the ceiling, completely exhausted but I just can’t sleep. Sleep has never been an issue for me until now. I cut back on my caffeine thinking that was causing it, but it only made things worse. :frowning:

If the lack of sleep and smells keeps up…I know I wont last much longer on Keto. Any helpful advice is appreciated.

The bad breath goes away.
Sleep should get better, I certainly sleep better now than ever before.

Yes the bad breath should go away, along with any bad body odor…

The sleep I don’t know, it could simply be your body’s response to less carbs more fat…

Week 3 how are things going otherwise? Food, progress on scale etc?

Things are okay…the first two weeks I was eating too much protein and not enough fat so I was not seeing any progress. I slipped up in week one and cheated. Only down 3 pounds overall. I can now take MCT by the tablespoon and am getting use to eating more and more fat. I do get headaches some days and find it hard not to snack like I use to. The sweet cravings have been pretty bad, but I have not cheated or gone over 25 carbs and have hit my fat macro every day this week. My pants seems to be fitting better so I am excited to see this weeks measurements on Sunday morning. The diet is not hard to stick to other than not sleeping and the smells.

I take my magnesium at night and it helps me sleep.
