Sleepy after eating

(Max Lewis) #1

Have been in Ketosis for six months and still get very sleepy after I’ve eaten. Any clues why.

If I had to guess it is probably a sensitivity to a food you are eating. You could keep a food diary to see what foods make you sleepier than others or try an elimination diet. Cut out foods that are most reactionary to people for a few weeks and see how you feel, then slowly add back in one food at a time to see how it affects you. Say if you cut out dairy, for example,
and you feel great after a few days, then not so great after adding it back in, then its dairy.

Thanks for that Sheri, I’ll give it a try.

If you have a meter, you could test your glucose (and ketones if you can) pre and post meal at the 1 and 2 hour points. That may give some insight about what’s going on in your body.
