Shower thoughts... Episode #2

(Aimee Moisa) #1

I have heard that people without gallbladders have loose #2 if they eat lots of fat. I dunno if it is true, that is just what I have heard. I have also heard from other ketoers and experienced myself that eating a particularly high fat meal can lead to loose #2.

Dr. Ken Barry makes the point in one of his videos that we are supposed to eat diets in high saturated fats because if not why do we have a gall bladder in the first place, the purpose of which is to store a quick-release supply of what I am going to just call fat-digesting enzymes. I am not fully up to speed on all the lingo.

ANYWAY

If ketoers are constantly eating saturated fat foods, what if we are keeping our gall bladder empty all the time and when we have a sooper high fat large meal we don’t have enough gall bladder juice to take care of the meal and we end up just like people without a gall bladder at all?

I don’t have a gallbladder, it was removed almost 20 years ago, and my #2s have not been loose since I started Keto in September 2017. :slightly_smiling_face: In fact, toilet-times are much, much improved. No more painful urgency after eating and fairly regular…as long as I don’t skimp on my magnesium, salt and water. :poop:

IIRC, our body constantly makes bile so I guess we don’t have to worry about running out. :upside_down_face:

I had problems the first week on keto. And one day when MCT Oil didn’t agree with me. No problems since. I had my gallbladder out last May.

See, I did imply I dont know what I am taking about. LOL

(Michelle) #5

I haven’t really had particularly fat meals though. I tend to spread my fat throughout the day.
