Short ski vacation results

I just returned from a three day ski trip to Taos New Mexico. Skiing was great and had powder each day. I do some hike to stuff and some really changing narrow steep trees that require jump turns. This means I am burning a lot of calories along with my resting heart rate (I am age 57) normally 60 goes to almost 100 due to the 12000 foot altitude. You should see how bad I look coming from 760 feet elevation to 12K feet in one day and hiking in ski boots. People think I am having a heart attack.

I stayed on plan really well but lots of food is “comfort food” that I am sure has some extra carbs in it. The extra beer drinking with family didn’t help either. Was hoping the added calorie burn would give me a sufficient deficit.

I ended up gaining four pounds which I will claim as a victory. When I combine that with all the stress of travel, airport bars, plane delays and not getting in til 2 am I feel like I can quickly shed these four pounds. My point is yes you can have fun and keto doesn’t have to be so restrictive that you must break it to go on a vacation. Now that I have passed this test the research will continue in two weeks at Jackson Hole.

Glad you had a great time.

Probably all water weight due to the carbs and it will drop off this next week.

That’s what I was thinking. I also have a colonoscopy prep on Sunday so I am confident I can lose the extra pounds quickly.

@Rclause. I had a colonoscopy this past week and lost right at 4 pounds in a 64-hour water fast. Lol.

Their prep included magnesium sulfate, sodium sulfate and potassium sulfate. Some thick nasty stuff. But it was a great cleanse.
