Sharing With a Group!

I have a chance to share about Keto, sugar and cholesterol with a group of lady’s tomorrow. I need print outs,or anything eye catching that can help me get my point across. Also what are your top 5 things you would say if you only had 5 min! Thanks

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #2

I don’t know if I could keep it to five minutes, but I’d characterise this way of eating as a low-insulin diet, because insulin is the fat-storage hormone, so eliminating sugar and starches, and keeping other carbohydrate low, is the key to success. And then I’d mention eating whole foods over the processed stuff on the supermarket shelves. You could explain that before the dietary guidelines were introduced, everyone knew that pasta and potatoes and sugar made us fat, but everyone got so scared of saturated fat that we kind of forgot. Remind them that back in the days when Americans were considered the healthiest people in the world, they were eating a lot more meat than they do now. That’s probably five minutes’ worth, right there.

I don’t envy you. There’s so much more I’d love to talk about that they’d probably have to gag me, to get me to shut up.

Yes! I’d focus on insulin as well. Also I would not use the word “keto” at all unless that’s what’s specifically being requested. Many folks have minds that simply shut down when they hear that word, or they think it’s a diet rather than a way of eating that fits our physiology.

Good point! I will not say “Keto”!
Thanks

Thanks

That is a great opportunity, Annette! I wish you all the best and I am sure that you will do a wonderful job =). Hopefully you will get some new Keto converts after your talk!

Also avoid mentioning high fat, people get scared due to our wonderful nutritional guidelines. Start with cutting out all processed foods, flours, starches and fruit, stick to green veggies, eggs, meats and adjust your butter, olive oil, etc to your desires, don’t be afraid of it, enjoy in it. Stick to real foods, make it sound stupid simple, it’s intimidating at first. Salt is not something you should fear, add to taste - if it’s not salty enough, add some more salt.
Cholesterolcode.com is a great resource to share if they are afraid of cholesterol, tell them of its importance with sex hormones.
And like others said, insulin. There was a wonderful podcast with dr.fung and peter attia, a recent one, where he uses the suitcase+clothes+screaming wife as an analogy for T2D - I use it to describe T2D to others and then add about its factor in why it is keeping us fat. That one always helped me get to people.
